In brief, you should know the following about us: our Farmstay was established in 2005. We overlook the Capertee Valley which is known to be the largest valley in the world (wider, but not as deep as the Grand Canyon USA) and is located to the East of the Great Dividing Range off the Castlereagh Highway half way between Lithgow and Mudgee. The Capertee Valley also holds the record for the highest number of birds per square kilometre than anywhere else in the Southern Hemisphere. The accommodation is first class and everything you could wish for is provided, including a gas barbeque. We offer comfortable accommodation and a cosy cottage, with quality beds and super warm doonas. The fireplace in the loungeroom is set and ready for action with kindling and firewood provided nearby for ongoing use. Our regular customers particularly value "the most magnificent views in Australia, great bushwalking, wildlife, natural fauna, bird life, etc. and the chance to enjoy real peace and tranquility. It is a wonderful place to get away from it all".
Various rock formations can be found on the property, some depicting sillhouettes, teapots, etc. Let your imagination run wild.

GUEST REVIEWS -
AUGUST 2008 MARK - What a great place to just get away and take it easy. Our hosts John & Margaret are genuinely lovely people who gave us a great country/farm experience. The property has so much to offer and the views are some of the best you will see anywhere. We did several day trips to the Blue Mountains and Mudgee which we all enjyed, but I suppose the greatest compliment I can give The Cubby House is that, unlike every other family holiday, the kids would have been more than happy spending the entire week on the farm. In fact every time we did go for a drive the kids just wanted to get back and play with the animals.
AUGUST 2008 JON - Had a fantastic time staying at The Cubby House - fantastic views and relaxation.
SEPTEMBER 2008 STEPHEN - The Cubby House far exceeded our expectations. This is a full sized 3 bedroom house with everything you need for an enoyable, self catered holiday. The large open plan living area with its large combustion heater was always warm and cosy. The kitchen was very well appointed as was the bathroom. All 3 bedrooms were spacious with built in robes in each. The views from the front verandah were spectacular. A great place for sunrise photos. The hosts, John & Margaret were only too happy to show us around the property and pass on their knowledge of the area. We were free to wander around the property to check out the many different and unique cliffs, rock formations and even an old coal mine. Being an operational farm, there are plenty of animals wandering around to amuse kids and adults. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Cubby House and would highly recommend it to those looking for a real getaway.
OCTOBER 2008 CATH - Our young family have just enjoyed a terrific week away at The Cubby House. We all thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to experience farm life first hand. The generous hosts, John & Margaret, and their children, Clare and Daniel, warmly encouraged us to participate in many different activities. Our boys particularly loved collecting eggs, playing with the pup and the pet goat and collecting wood to light a small campfire. Kyle and I loved the comfort of the Cubby House, the beds were really comfortable and Kyle enjoyed looking after the lovely wood fire. The bush walks are spectacular and the chance to muster some sheep with John was a terrific experience for me. The Cubby House was a terrific family holiday for our family and I would highly recommend it.
APRIL 2009 RACHAEL - A wonderful time was had by all at The Cubby House Farmstay. The views were breathtaking, the company charming and the taste of country life liberating. The children would leave only with the promise that we would return and visit the Chadwick Family at Running Stream again. "See you again Cubby House Farm".
MAY 2009 AMANDA - I recommend The Cubby House to anyone, it was fantastic, the views were magnificent. Our kids enjoyed the stay, playing with Clare and the animals. The cottage has everything you need, very relaxing. Thank you.
JULY 2009 FIONA - What a stunning view, couldn't seem to drag ourselves away from gazing out. A lovely, friendly, comfortable stay was had by our families and we will be back as promised to our kids as they didn't want to leave.
AUGUST 2009 ALAINYA - We had a great time at The Cubby House. The views were spectacular and the house had everything we needed. John and Margaret were great hosts and we all, especially our boys, loved the farm tour in the back of the truck. Our older boys loved exploring and playing with Clare which gave the adults some down time. The wrap around verandah was great for the adults to appreciate the view and fantastic for the kids to ride their bikes. We certainly would recommend The Cubby House to families.
SEP 2009 MELISSA - We really enjoyed our stay. The views were spectacular and the selection of animals was great. The accommodation was comfortable and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was especially great for the kids. We live in the city, so for them just having that space to run around freely was fantastic. Boy did they sleep well!
OCT 2009 SIMONE - The Cubby House is a fantastic holiday destination for anyone looking to get away from it all and experience farm life. It's a 9 year old boy's paradise and our son put our 1 night stay level with his trips to Disneyland!! The most unfortunate thing about our visit to The Cubby House was our inability to get a booking for more than 1 night! What a great excuse to return soon.
NOV 2009 ROCHELL - My girlfriends and I stayed at The Cubby House for our annual "girls trip". It was such a wonderful break away from the hustle and bustle. The tranquility was just what we needed. Our hosts were fantastic and made our stay a memorable one. I'm looking forward to bringing the hubby and kids back for some quality family time.
DEC 2009 SARAH - Fantastic stay at The Cubby House for my family (2 children aged 4 and 6). BEAUTIFUL spot, lovely welcoming hosts, lots of hands on with the animals, very comfortable accommodation, well equipped kitchen, Dvd's, games and books. Everything we had hoped for. Thanks very much for having us, hoping we can come again soon. Maybe in the Winter so we can use the fantastic fireplace!
JAN 2010 STEPHANIE - We really loved our stay at The Cubby House. The view was spectacular and The Cubby House was spacious and comfortable. Our host family was fantastic - taking us for a truck ride around their amazing property and showing us local flora and fauna. We also loved the animals that the kids could pat (ducks, chickens, a lamb and a goat). A great family holiday! We'll definately be going back.
MAR 2010 VERONICA - This is an absolutely stunning place to stay. The owners took us on a wonderful tour of the property on the back of a truck - it was great fun. The Cubby House is roomy, extremely comfortable and very well fitted out with everything you need for a perfect holiday. I'm almost reluctant to let too many people know just how fabulous our stay was. Oh, and I'm already booked to go back in a few weeks time. Highly, highly recommended.
MAR 2010 FIONA - The Cubby House is one of those hidden gems. The log cabin has an amazing 180 degrees uninterrupted outlook with great photo opportunities. John and Margaret were the perfect hosts. My 3 year old son loved feeding apples to the mini horses, holding a baby lamb that had been born that morning, collecting eggs from the chook pen, cuddling the sheep dogs and chasing the goats. We will definitely be back.
MAY 2010 VERONICA - This is my second visit and it was even more rewarding than the first. I couldn't recommend this farmstay more highly - it is definitely one of my very favourite places in the whole world. The hosts, Margaret and John and their two children are so very welcoming. The Cubby House is spacious, comfortable and if there is such a thing, I would rate it Spectacular Rustic Five-Star. The photographic opportunity is also outstanding. Highly recommended.
MAY 2010 MARGARET - Words can't describe the beauty of this place. This is peace personified...up in the clouds. We went to specifically take photographs of sunrise and sunset with hopefully some low lying cloud in the valleys. Our wishes were granted. I came away feeling very relaxed and satisfied. John & Margaret made us most welcome, not to mention Clare & Daniel. Thank you so much all of you, we were very comfortable and warm.
Just one of the shots of a sunrise with the valley carpeted in cloud taken by Margaret - May 2010.
